Kids’ Active Living and Cooking Club
Every July, the dietitian and exercise specialist run a week-long summer camp. They introduce children, ages 6-11 years old, to basic kitchen skills, new foods and recipes. Children participate in fun activities and movement. Participants will each take home a cookbook filled with the recipes we prepare at camp and are encouraged to share with their families at home.
Mornings: ages 6-8
Afternoons: ages 9-11
Craving Change is a group workshop which uses cognitive-behavioural strategies to assist the individual identify and change problematic eating behaviour. The client will learn about the influence of the environment, learned behaviours on food choices and eating patterns, identify problematic eating triggers, strategies to change behaviours, and tips for building a healthier, lasting relationship with food. Craving Change is not a diet program. It does not address what, when, where or how much to eat. This group runs for 6 weeks and is offered twice a year.

Fee: $50 (member) /$60 (non-member)
Hans Kai is a community approach to healthy living. It is founded on the idea that people who spend time together monitoring their health will live longer and healthier lives. Participant-led groups meet monthly to encourage members to choose healthy lifestyle choices. Groups participate in 4 key activities – preparing healthy food/snack, engaging in physical activity, checking specific health indicators, and socializing and supporting each other. Groups attend an 8 week health school to learn about Hans Kai and are provided with the education, tools and resources to run their own group. This group is offered twice a year.
Target group: adults
This session is offered once a year and is open to any Craving Change participants. It is an opportunity to provide updates on progress and review the “toolkit” discussed in Craving Change.
